This is the week of Valentine’s Day, the time of LOVE! And for Valentine’s we received a great gift that we want to share with you!
As you know, at the heart of Karmic Knot, Signe Baumane’s new independent animated feature film, is a unique story about a family living through the collapse of a country. Independent films are a vital part of our cultural landscape, pushing boundaries, inspiring conversations and making an impact that mainstream cinema often cannot. As funding for the arts and independent filmmaking are under new threats, now more than ever we need your help to bring Karmic Knot to life.
So, for Valentine’s Day a generous foundation has given us a great gift - a matching-fund grant to help finance Karmic Knot. Here is how it works: every donation from $25 to $1,000 will be doubled, dollar for dollar, through April 1st up to $50,000. This means that your support will go twice as far to help create Karmic Knot.

· A gift of $100 becomes $200
· A gift of $500 becomes $1,000
· A gift of $1,000 becomes $2,000

As you can see, we have already raised over $1,000,000 through grants from the Latvian National Film Center, New York State, sales from Signe’s previous animated feature My Love Affair With Marriage, and individual supporters like you!
But we have a long way to go. Karmic Knot will cost approximately $2,500,000 over five years. Although it seems a lot, it is an extraordinarily low budget compared with most animated feature films. We keep our production process simple and cost efficient. Our priority is to stay independent and maintain creative control. Your support is crucial.
